Then we had a tournament in France, which is considered the unofficial world championship for tennis players under 14 years old. Were in the USA, where Marta won two Orange Ball tournaments among juniors under 14 years old. From 10 to 12 years old, Marta and I traveled to very good tournaments in Europe thanks to this help. We had no particular difficulties, because I worked as a coach, I knew all the directors of sports complexes, and they provided me with courts for free.īut not without sponsorship. What difficulties did you encounter at the beginning of the journey? Did you have support, sponsors? After all, tennis is quite an expensive sport. But then there were more and more trainings, Marta finished her studies at school until the 8th grade inclusive, and then from the 9th grade she began to study externally, because she had to train twice a day. Martha did not study in the third grade, she was immediately transferred to the fourth. Although initially she was very capable and active in school. He just comes and takes tests or tests, but now it’s getting less and less time to study. Marta studies at the School of External Students in the Goloseevsky district of Kyiv. How does Marta manage to combine school and tennis? After that, we even took a break and did not play in tournaments. She was very small, not tall, it was difficult for her, she lost and was very nervous. And it was very difficult when, at her first tournament at the age of 6, Marta played with older girls. She had to win always, against everyone and everywhere. The only problem was that she didn't know how to lose. After all, I started coaching in 1996, and Martha came to tennis in 2007, I already had enough experience to feel that this was a talent. After the first training session with her, I realized that she feels the ball, she has the power of impact. In tennis, Martha was initially very capable, the best in the group. So why all the same tennis? When did you realize that this sport is her profession? Therefore, she is a candidate for master of sports in acrobatics. In acrobatics, by the way, she fulfilled the standard of a master of sports, but she was not given the title, she was not yet 11 years old, and the title is given from this age. Marta worked out with everyone, training was three times a week, and she also did acrobatics every day in parallel. Then we decided to create a group for children, and she began to train. When Martha was five years old, she came to me for training, saw that it was good with her mother, she didn’t need to sit with a nanny at home or in a kindergarten, and she wanted to stay. On the contrary, she is a meat lover, she also eats fruits and vegetables. Will there be a cake? Martha doesn't like sweets at all. But at home we will already gather friends and congratulate Martha on her victory. The next day, Marta went to a restaurant with our Ukrainian diaspora, and I watched the final between Federer and Nadal. We will be celebrating already in Kyiv, it doesn’t work here, because on the day of victory everything was very chaotic. Talina, congratulations on your victory! Have you already celebrated? "Fulfilled the standard of the master of sports in acrobatics" The mother of the athlete Talina Kostyuk, who trains her daughter, told KP in Ukraine about the tennis path of a talented girl. The victory at the Australian Open - 2017 lit the star of Kostyuk, but the triumph in Melbourne did not happen by chance for the Ukrainian, she went to this victory for almost 10 years. For tennis fans, 14-year-old Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk has turned from a well-known athlete only in narrow circles into one of the most promising juniors in the world in just a week.
